Cantor Shimon Shakiban: Master of Sacred Melodies
Our beloved cantor, Shimon Shakiban, is a distinguished chazzan known for his exceptional vocal artistry and deep spiritual commitment. Shimon was born in Tehran-Iran and emigrated to the United States in his early teens. His love of Chazzanut started as a child when he led the Teen Minyan at his school and encouraged others to part take in daily prayer services. What started as a passion, turned into a rewarding journey in various congregations across, Brooklyn, Queens and Long Island where he taught and led prayers according to Nusach Yerushalmi with an Iranian/Israeli flare. His prayers combine the traditions of the old with the music of our times to create a meaningful experience for the participants on every Shabbat and Holiday. Shimon’s commitment to the community goes beyond his musical talents. His innovative approach to Teffilot has made him a sought-after teacher, conductor and special occasions performer. A dedicated family man who greets every single member of our congregation with a warm and pleasing attitude. Shimon’s contributions to Jewish worship are a testament to his passion and dedication, making him a cherished figure in our synagogue. His voice continues to uplift and inspire, bridging the sacred and the everyday with grace and beauty.
